Adventures with Grandpa

See the Boats
June was long and dreary!  It seemed like it was never going to stop raining. Which is fine, in say March, but by the time we get to June...I'm ready for summer!  We were so happy when Grandpa Brown came to the rescue and planned some delightful day trips for us on the few days the rain didn't stop us!  The first one was a trip to downtown Portland.  We went to see the Coast Guard boats and even got to go on a tour.  It was crazy to hear that they live for 6-8 months at sea.  Whew! I could not do that.  The boys loved actually being on a "army" boat.  The sailors were so great and nice with the kids too.  Of course, the boys favorite part was riding on the carousal with Grandpa.

Fishing Day
The next trip was to the Bonneville Fish Hatchery for the Oregon State fishing day. This trip was particularly special because this is where my Grandpa Brown used to take my Dad when he was a boy.  It meant a lot to me that Dad wanted to share the experience with our kids too :)

Forrest caught two fish!  He was so proud of himself.  My Dad was adorable helping and teaching the boys how to fish.  Where Drew and Grandpa fished was more difficult and he didn't catch anything but he still had so much fun sitting next to Grandpa and talking to him.  My Dad said that Andrew was so patient waiting. My parents even bought the boys some fishing poles and gear of their own! The boys are looking forward to getting some good use out of those.

Thanks again Mom and Dad!  You definitely got us through the longest month of the year! :)
